Lilacs at the Arboretum

Imagine all hues of Lilacs from pure white to pinks to dark burgundy each different from the other in shape and the fragrance they exude.

Arnold Arboretum in Massachusetts has an amazing collection of Lilacs they actively cultivate and create new hybrid varieties. Though the park is open for visitors every day, the Lilac Festival on Mother's Day makes it very special for picnicking and ofcourse training your nose to try pick out the one you really like.

Here is one for those Bleeding Heart lovers:

Hope your saturday was wonderful and I hope your Mother's Day plans will turn out to be great!

Lovely photos. I can only imagine the swirls of scents these lilacs give while walking through the arboretum. I heart bleeding hearts. :o) Each Mother's Day we go to a very fun nursery to purchase plants.

Oooo.... I just love lilacs! That sounds like a wonderful thing to do on Mother's day and not too far of a drive. Hmmm... Thanks for the tip!

I love looking at your photography, Pratima -- the lilac photos are just gorgeous.

I love lilacs and bleeding hearts and both are blooming now, only mine don't look quite as fabulous as the ones in your photos -- maybe I just need to get us really close.

I absolutely love the delicateness of the white flowers and the last bleeding heart made me giggle as it looks like a woman with hair from the 60's. I have missed you and am excited to have "visited you". Em

Such beautiful pictures! You truly have an eye for capturing beauty! I love that you've sorted the pictures colored from white to darkest, and the colors sort of fade into darker ones in the next picture. If I close my eyes I can almost faintly even smell them :)
