Arnold Arboretum in Massachusetts has an amazing collection of Lilacs they actively cultivate and create new hybrid varieties. Though the park is open for visitors every day, the Lilac Festival on Mother's Day makes it very special for picnicking and ofcourse training your nose to try pick out the one you really like.

Lovely photos. I can only imagine the swirls of scents these lilacs give while walking through the arboretum. I heart bleeding hearts. :o) Each Mother's Day we go to a very fun nursery to purchase plants.

I love lilacs and bleeding hearts and both are blooming now, only mine don't look quite as fabulous as the ones in your photos -- maybe I just need to get us really close.

Such beautiful pictures! You truly have an eye for capturing beauty! I love that you've sorted the pictures colored from white to darkest, and the colors sort of fade into darker ones in the next picture. If I close my eyes I can almost faintly even smell them :)
