Chutki played dress-up this afternoon and finally decided on a pretty pink dress to wear for our trip to the market.
Before we could step out, the looming clouds burst into pouring rain...

…the view was so lovely from the window… leaves sparkling like emeralds, barks shining chocolaty brown, squirrels running hither and thither, caught unawares by the sudden down-pour…

Chutki wasn't as pleased as I was about the prospect of staying home while she could have happily trotted in her pretty pink dress and sweet yellow shoes, outdoors.

But when I talked about starting a new quilt, she quickly forgot her troubles and got busy.

We flipped through the pages of Fons and Porter's "Our best seasonal quilts" and came upon floral trellis.

A candy pink, a mossy green and a white floral were cut and soon it’s time for piecing.

Now that we’ve got some of our pieces ready for the next step how about a Chai break?
Garma garam chai with Parle-G, anyone…?

Azaleas & Orioles

Spring arrival is no more boldly expressed by nature than vibrant Azaleas. I thought I would get to see some birds today afternoon at the Forest Hills Cemetery and as soon as I entered the cemetery gate, I was captivated by these Azaleas. I hope you enjoy these pictures.

Similar to Azaleas signaliing the arrival of spring are the migrant Orioles making several parks in the Boston metro area their home to feed, nest and rear their young. Their sweet songs echo through the green spaces and typically ends up in a singing contest of several males trying to impress the females.

I hope you get to see and hear the Orioles this season.

Spring is here

At last, the most awaited season of the year, Spring, its here. A couple of shots that I took at my most favorite places in Boston are posted here.

I took this picture at Arnold Arboretum just when the cherry blossoms were out last week. Few peeps took refuge under a tree on an unusally hot spring day. Not a great day for landscape photography either. Harsh sunlight tends to blow out the colors of the foliage resulting in a washed out photograph. Early morning and late afternoons are the best times to take pictures of flowers. Try and work with the clouds if you must take photographs in sunlight. Though this is not a great photograph, it fits the scenario that hot afternoon.

This picture of peach flowers in full bloom was taken today morning at Mt. Auburn Cemetry, famously known for world's finest landscaped cemetery and spring migrant bird trap. Our little migrant friends (birds) from the south rest here and feed before flying further north. Bird paparazzi land in droves at the cemetery to take a peek at the furry little friends.

Make the most of this season. Go out and enjoy the weather!
